Privacy Policy
Your back photos are never stored on our servers. This page says exactly what happens to them, and to everything else.
The short version
BackMaxx does not store your back photos. When you run a scan, the photo is sent over an encrypted connection to the analysis service, passed to an AI vision model, and discarded. Only the numeric results are kept, against an anonymous identifier. Progress photos stay on your device.
Photos
Your back photos are never stored on our servers. When you run a scan, the photo is transmitted over an encrypted connection to our analysis service, passed to an AI vision model to produce your scores, and discarded. Only the numeric results — your Back Score, your per-zone and per-muscle scores, and a short text insight — are saved.
Progress photos are stored on your device only and never leave it, except transiently during the analysis described above.
Account
The app creates an anonymous account, which is a random identifier. No name, email address or password is required or collected. Your first name, if you choose to enter it, stays on your device.

What we do not do
- We do not sell your data.
- We do not use your photos to train AI models.
- We do not show ads or share data with ad networks.
- We do not collect contacts, location or health records.
- We do not publish anything about you. Leaderboard visibility is off unless you turn it on.
Third parties
Analysis runs on Supabase (hosting) and OpenAI (AI vision — images are processed under OpenAI’s API terms, which exclude API data from model training). Subscriptions are managed by Apple and RevenueCat. Analytics are handled by PostHog, EU-hosted.
Not medical advice
Scores and insights are visual estimates for fitness motivation only. They are not medical measurements, diagnoses or advice. See how the scan actually works for what the score is and is not based on.
Deleting your data
In the app, Settings → Delete Account permanently removes your scan history and anonymous account from our servers, and your local data from the device. You can also email the address below and we will do it for you.
This website
backmaxx.app is a static site on Vercel. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics and embeds no third-party scripts or fonts. Vercel logs standard request data (IP address, user agent, requested path) as part of serving the site.

Frequently asked questions
Is my back photo stored anywhere?
Not on our servers. The scan photo is sent over an encrypted connection, analyzed, and discarded — only the numbers survive. If you save a progress photo, it stays in the app on your device and is never uploaded except transiently for that one analysis.
Do I need an account to use BackMaxx?
No. The app creates an anonymous random identifier so your scan history and subscription status can be recognized. There is no email, no password and no profile. Nothing you enter identifies you.
Are my photos used to train AI models?
No. Analysis runs through OpenAI’s API, whose terms exclude API data from model training, and we do not retain the images ourselves. There is nothing to train on.
Will my Back Score show up on a leaderboard?
Only if you choose to appear. Leaderboard visibility is off by default. Percentile rankings are computed from anonymous scores, so your position exists without your identity being attached to it.
